Facebook and WhatsApp outage drove 70 million people to Telegram
Facebook's services, including WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger, went down for several hours on October four, 2022. The outage sent people to other social media sites to share jokes most the services being down, but information technology also drove people to sign upwards for alternatives that aren't powered by Facebook. According to Telegram founder Pavel Durov, seventy million people signed upwardly for Telegram during the Facebook outage.
Durov said that he was proud of how the Telegram squad handled the "unprecedented growth" (via TechCrunch):
